Our Approach
MedAssure provides hands-on accreditation support. Not templates, not theory. We help practices implement real systems that meet RACGP standards and stand up during assessment.
We don't just prepare documents. We build a compliant, audit-ready practice.
MedAssure is a specialist medical accreditation and compliance consulting service focused exclusively on Australian general practices.
Achieving RACGP accreditation is one of the most important milestones for any general practice. It demonstrates that a clinic meets the national standards for clinical governance, patient safety and quality of care, and it is a requirement for eligibility to the Medicare Practice Incentives Program (PIP) and Workforce Incentive Program (WIP).
The preparation process involves building documentation, evidence systems, quality improvement records, and operational alignment across every area of practice, both clinical and administrative. Without structured preparation, practices risk discovering gaps during the survey itself.
MedAssure works with practices nationally to handle this work properly the first time, with a defined scope and a fixed fee. Practice managers and principals can focus on running the clinic rather than managing accreditation as a side project.
Accreditation protects more than compliance. It protects revenue, operations, and eligibility for programs such as the Practice Incentives Program (PIP).
The Problem
Most practices understand the importance of accreditation but struggle with the preparation process. Practice managers and principals are often responsible for coordinating accreditation work while also managing daily operational responsibilities. Without structured assistance, accreditation can easily become fragmented or delayed.
Preparation Challenges
Survey Preparation Pressure
MedAssure assists practices by bringing structure, clarity and accountability to the process.
When to Engage
Practices often seek accreditation assistance at key points in the journey: when beginning the RACGP self-assessment process, preparing for an upcoming survey visit, or responding to non-compliance findings identified during assessment.
One of the most common points practices seek assistance is when they begin the RACGP self-assessment process through their chosen accrediting agency.
This is where most practices realise the true scope of accreditation.
Another common stage is when the accreditation survey has been scheduled and the practice realises there are still gaps in readiness. MedAssure assists through readiness reviews, documentation reviews and preparation guidance.
This is the ideal window to fix gaps before pressure builds.
Some practices seek assistance after receiving non-compliance findings during an accreditation survey. Practices usually have a limited timeframe to address issues and provide evidence of corrective action.
Fast, structured remediation is critical within strict timeframes.

Accreditation Frameworks
MedAssure supports practices preparing for accreditation under the RACGP Standards for General Practices.
Most Australian general practices are currently accredited under the RACGP 5th Edition Standards. MedAssure assists practices in interpreting indicators, preparing documentation, and ensuring operational processes align with these requirements. We assist with all indicator areas, evidence requirements, and ensuring that both clinical and administrative systems meet the standard expected by accrediting agency assessors.
As the RACGP standards continue to evolve, practices must prepare for future changes. MedAssure assists clinics in understanding the transition between editions and identifying areas where early preparation may be beneficial. Practices will have a transition window once the standards are finalised. Preparing documentation with future standards changes in mind can help reduce rushed corrective work once transition requirements are confirmed.
Four agencies are approved under the National General Practice Accreditation (NGPA) Scheme: AGPAL, QPA, ACHS and Global-Mark. Most practices choose AGPAL or QPA. MedAssure prepares practices for assessment through any of the four approved agencies and can assist with agency selection if you haven't decided yet. The RACGP Standards are the same regardless of agency. Administrative processes, online platforms, surveyor pools and fee structures differ.
Why MedAssure
There are templates, software tools, and generic compliance kits available, but accreditation requires more than documentation.
Every system and document reflects how your practice actually operates, rather than a generic standard that happens to share your logo.
Software can store documents. It doesn't ensure they meet assessor expectations or reflect real operational processes.
You're not coordinating multiple vendors or internal staff. MedAssure handles the process end-to-end with a defined scope.
MedAssure is focused exclusively on general practice accreditation in Australia. This is not a side service.
Everything is built with accrediting agency assessor expectations in mind, rather than only what the published standards say on paper.
You know the cost and deliverables before work begins. No open-ended retainers, no scope creep, no hourly billing.
Investment
Every engagement is scoped before a price is agreed. No hourly rates, no scope creep. Not sure where to start? The Pre-Survey Readiness Review is the most efficient way to get expert eyes on your practice before survey day.
A focused, expert-led compliance assessment for practices preparing in-house, or using a compliance tool, that want expert eyes before survey day. MedAssure reviews your documentation against RACGP 5th Edition mandatory indicators and delivers a written report with a prioritised action plan, from five business days. Ideal for practices handling preparation themselves who want an expert second opinion before survey day.

Our Services
MedAssure provides several core services designed to assist practices at different stages of the accreditation process. Each service is practical, hands-on and aligned with the expectations of accrediting agency assessors.
This is MedAssure's flagship service. We conduct a structured accreditation readiness review against RACGP standards, assessing documentation, operational systems and evidence quality against the specific indicators your assessors will evaluate. The outcome is a clear, prioritised action plan that allows practices to address issues before their accreditation survey, rather than discovering gaps on the day.
Policies and procedures form a critical component of RACGP accreditation evidence. Many practices rely on generic templates or outdated documents that do not accurately reflect current workflows. MedAssure develops or updates policy documentation that is aligned with RACGP standards, tailored to the specific practice, and operationally realistic. Documents are clearly linked to indicators and supported by appropriate evidence.
Accreditation is not only about documentation. Practices must also demonstrate that their systems and daily operations align with their policies. A well-written policy not reflected in practice will be identified during a survey. MedAssure reviews operational areas to identify where practice operations and documentation may not fully align before the survey, reducing the risk of conditions being issued on operational grounds.
Accreditation surveys can create significant stress for practice teams. Many practices feel uncertain about what assessors will ask, how evidence will be reviewed, or how the survey day will run. MedAssure assists practices in preparing for survey day so staff understand what to expect and feel confident responding to assessor questions.
Accreditation should not be treated as a one-off event. Maintaining strong governance systems requires continuous monitoring and improvement. MedAssure assists practices with ongoing compliance support to keep systems current, policies updated and evidence maintained between accreditation cycles, reducing workload significantly at the next cycle.
Supporting Work
MedAssure frequently assists practices with the practical work required to support accreditation evidence. Beyond the core services, there is a broad range of documentation, systems and compliance activities that practices must maintain to meet RACGP requirements.

MedAssure is built on real experience working with general practices and understanding how accreditation works in practice, not just in theory.
MedAssure provides practical accreditation assistance rather than generic advice. Our approach is built on understanding how RACGP accreditation actually works and what assessors look for during a survey, not simply what the standards say on paper.
Systems aligned with real practice workflows. Our goal is helping practices build systems that genuinely support safe, high-quality care, rather than simply assembling paperwork to pass an assessment.
Preparation aligned with assessor expectations. MedAssure provides hands-on support throughout the preparation process with documentation that is clear, evidence-based and assessor-ready, so your team feels confident when survey day arrives.

FAQ
At MedAssure, we are committed to supporting healthcare practices in their accreditation journey. If you have a question not answered below, please reach out to us directly.
It depends on your starting point. First-time accreditation typically requires nine to twelve months of preparation. Reaccreditation for practices that have maintained their systems can be completed in three to four months. If your survey is approaching sooner, MedAssure can prioritise the highest-risk gaps first through a Pre-Survey Readiness Review, which delivers a written assessment in three to five business days.
Four agencies are approved under the NGPA Scheme to conduct RACGP accreditation assessments: AGPAL, QPA, ACHS and Global-Mark. All assess against the same RACGP Standards. They differ in administrative processes, online platforms, surveyor pools and fee structures. AGPAL is the market leader, with QPA second. ACHS and Global-Mark together hold a smaller share of the GP market. MedAssure works with practices preparing for assessment through any of the four and can assist with agency selection if you haven't decided yet.
Total accreditation cost typically ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 for a single-site general practice, depending on size and complexity. This includes the accrediting agency fees (usually $3,000 to $6,000) plus any external consulting support engaged. Internal staff time should also be factored in. MedAssure publishes its packages from $5,000 to $9,500, with the optional Readiness Review from $850. Every engagement is scoped and priced before any work begins.
An accreditation survey typically involves a full day on-site with two surveyors. They review your documentation, conduct interviews with clinical and administrative staff, observe practice operations, inspect physical areas including clinical rooms and storage, and assess specific evidence against each indicator. The survey concludes with a debrief outlining preliminary findings and any conditions.
Many practices manage accreditation independently. External assistance typically becomes valuable when a practice is going through first-time accreditation, has limited internal capacity, has a survey approaching quickly, has received non-compliance findings previously, or simply wants accreditation handled properly without it becoming an internal project. The Pre-Survey Readiness Review is often the most efficient way to get expert eyes on the work without committing to a full engagement.
Yes. MedAssure works with general practices across Australia, including Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and regional clinics. All engagements are conducted remotely using secure document sharing. Site visits are available on request for practices where an onsite assessment is preferred, though most engagements complete entirely without one.
MedAssure offers standalone targeted assistance for practices that don't need a full preparation engagement. The Pre-Survey Readiness Review (from $1,950) provides a structured assessment with a written report and prioritised action plan. Standalone policy development and gap analysis services are also available. Every service is scoped and priced individually.
Yes. The 6th Edition Standards are in development and most practices are still surveyed under the 5th Edition. MedAssure tracks proposed 6th Edition changes and structures documentation and systems to be 6th Edition-ready where possible, reducing the corrective work required when the transition window opens. Practices preparing now under the 5th Edition do not need to delay accreditation.
Practices rarely fail outright. More commonly they receive conditions, which are specific non-compliance findings that must be addressed within a defined timeframe (usually 30 to 90 days). Severe findings can result in the survey being deferred. MedAssure assists practices that have received conditions to remediate findings quickly with structured corrective action plans.
Accreditation is not legally mandatory but is required for eligibility to several Medicare incentive programs including the Practice Incentives Program (PIP) and the Workforce Incentive Program (WIP). For most general practices, the financial impact of losing access to these programs makes accreditation effectively essential.
RACGP accreditation operates on a three-year cycle. Practices undergo a full survey every three years, with annual self-assessment and quality improvement evidence required between surveys. Maintaining accreditation between cycles matters. Practices that let systems lapse often face significant remediation work in the months before the next survey.
The most common findings relate to: incomplete or outdated policies that don't reflect actual practice operations, inconsistent register maintenance (cold chain, staff training, incident logs), missing or insufficient quality improvement evidence (especially PDSA cycle documentation), staff who can't articulate practice processes during interviews, and disorganised evidence folders that make it hard for surveyors to find what they need quickly.
Yes. If a practice proceeds with full accreditation preparation through MedAssure after completing a Readiness Review, the Review fee is credited toward the total cost of the engagement. This makes the Review effectively risk-free for practices considering full support.
No. MedAssure is fully independent and not affiliated with AGPAL, QPA, ACHS or Global-Mark. This independence allows MedAssure to assess your practice from the perspective of what assessors will look for, and to provide objective guidance on agency selection when relevant.
The most reliable way is an independent expert review. The RACGP self-assessment tool tells you what to check but not whether what you have is good enough. The Pre-Survey Readiness Review is specifically designed to answer this question, providing a written report with risk-rated findings and a prioritised action plan, typically within three to five business days depending on the tier selected.
